Wood Blocks Carving
Where can I get some really good wood Carving Tools?
I am making an athame and I only have a block of wood so far buy I need to make it into a knife handle and all I have is a saw. Don’t tell me to buy one because my parents would never approve of me being Wiccan and I don’t know how I would pull that off without telling them. I am making all my own stuff and for my athame I need some really good Wood Carving Tools that can make it into the shape of a knife handle and one that can let me etch some fine details into it. Any suggestions would be great. I live in Pittsfield, MA so you can get me some local stores maybe?? Only stores in the Berkshires please. Thanks in advance:)
Home depot has lots of great wood working tools. There is a Home Depot in your town on Hubbard Ave.

It sounds like you’re determined to do this, so I won’t try to talk you out of it, however, if you find that trying to carve your own athame out of a block of wood isn’t going the way you had hoped, there are some other options for getting an athame:
-Letter openers make great athames…some of them are even wooden and can be really beautiful. Most office supply stores have letter openers.
-Painter’s knives from an art supply store also have the perfect shape to be used as an athame.
-Large nail files, butter knives and pie knives can work well too.
When it comes right down to it, you don’t even really need an athame. Your finger works just as well. Remember, the magic is in you, not in the tools.
